#1: From Medical Leave to Financial Success: The Story Behind Wealth Para Todos

Five years ago, I thought saving $30,000 was impossible. I didn’t know how to invest, I didn’t understand how to build financial security, and I thought earning more money meant working more hours.

Today, I have $80,000 in emergency and sinking funds, bought a million-dollar Los Angeles home with a 22% down payment, and run a thriving money and self-care coaching business.

But my wealth-building journey started during one of the hardest seasons of my life.

In this episode of Wealth Para Todos, I’m sharing how a 2019 health crisis and six-month medical leave forced me to confront my finances when my family had only $7,000 in savings. I’ll take you back to learning how to budget for the first time, reading personal finance books from bed, and realizing that building wealth might actually be possible for me.

I also share how my partner and I paid off $23,000 in student loan debt in four months—and why becoming debt-free unexpectedly left me feeling embarrassed and alone.

That experience eventually pushed me to start talking about dinero online and build the community that became Wealth Para Todos.

We’ll talk about:

  • How I went from financial stress to building financial security
  • Learning how to budget and manage money as an adult
  • Paying off $23,000 in student loan debt
  • Why financial literacy changed the way I thought about wealth
  • Starting my anonymous dinero Instagram account in 2020
  • Why community became an essential part of my wealth-building journey
  • Building wealth as a first-generation wealth builder
  • The systemic barriers that make building wealth harder for BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ+ folks
  • Why you don’t have to sacrifice your wellness to pursue financial independence

This episode is also an introduction to what you can expect from Wealth Para Todos: transparent conversations about money, self-care, debt payoff, investing, financial independence, increasing your net worth, building wealth with a partner, and the mistakes and lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Because building generational wealth is hard—but you don’t have to figure it out alone.
